A total of 100 tons of this was collected in a 3 x 19 km area and a strewn field of over 60 km.
The specifications of this fragment.
The residual magnetic field was a maximum of 0.3 milliTesla. Only a few times greater than the earth’s magnetic field.Being iron, they are strongly attracted to a magnet.
After stroking to magnetise it the residual magnetic field was only 0.7 milliTesla. This is only a minute field and less than a compass needle. Earth’s field is around 0.5 mT.
