I ran my Tesla coil, smoke ring machine and a few other displays at the Science spectacular 2012 at the Ocean Forest Lutheran College in Bunbury, Australia.

The Southwest Super Science Spectacular was held on 18 August 2012 from 10am to 4pm. Special guest speakers were media science personalities, Dr. Karl Kruszelnicki and Ruben the surfing scientist.
It was promoted as part of science week.
For the Science Spectacular 2012 I ran the smoke ring machine as the winds were minimal. Kids love to either fire the smoke rings or be fired at.
Also my Tesla coil and a rather poor Dr Electric cosplay. I ran the TC from a generator which reduces performance. Although the 4.5 KVA rating is fine, I think it can’t take the peaks within the cycle like the mains can. Power factor correction probably helps and some is built in to the supply. I suspect it is just using the capacitor to help with the peaks within each cycle.
