This Ultraviolet display was made for the Open day in 2014.

It is half of a larger display. The other half is for radioactive specimens. There is an acrylic cover and a flip up signing board. There is switchable internal lighting, fan cooling and a shelf at the rear for the various predominantly 12 V plug pack supplies.
All components are mounted on a perforated board with simple self tapping screws. This makes removal or changing position of a part of the display easy. I could make the display more dynamic by rotating the items on a platter past the UV source.
The main UV light is a 10 W LED which has some heatsinking requirements. I later added an upward facing 3 W UV LED to show fluorescence of external items.
The ultraviolet display fluorescent items are:
- fluorescein in bottle
- tonic water in unopened bottle,
- Rhodamine D (orange container),
- uranium marble,
- fluorescent scorpion (faded),
- activated zinc sulphide (yellow plastic bag),
- wernerite (orange rock),
- fluorescent plastic rod,
- fluoro acrylic sheet,
- red nightclub bangle,
- strontium aluminate with 2% europium activation for exotica (pink bag).
