Lifter – Museum Display

Lifter for a Museum. This high voltage lifter was developed for a public display. It has custom argon tubes for the upright high voltage wire supports. In addition it has small neon indicator globes at the corners of the lifter itself. Very impressive at night. Not really a high flier however due to the reduced voltage available after the argons plus the added weight of the small neon tubes which were later removed.

Ionic Spinners – Briefcase Tesla Coil

This is a long exposure of an ionic spinner with green and blue “neon” fluoro pilot lights rotating on my mini Tesla coil. It  shows the corona which is the purple ring of air ionised by high voltage that drives it.

This was just another quick demo of a comparison between neon and fluoro tubes for Tesla coils.



Above shows a similar length neon and a fluorescent tube with ends connected. The electrode end has been made identical by using same sized electrodes. One has to bring the neon much closer to fire it. Of course the color is much nicer…
