I made this laser table for my 2014 Home Open Day. It has HeNe, violet, green, red lasers and running and NdYAG and nitrogen plus laser galvos not running. This is a lot safer as an unattended display than a lot of separate laser displays with all the safety concerns.

Gallery-Odd Projects
Around 200 projects based on lasers, magnetism, radioactivity, exotic materials, extreme LEDs, vortex generators, micro flamethrowers, light effects, and a whole lot more.
Ferrofluid spikes lit by a neon from a display I made for the Gravity Discovery Center. Jump to the “Ferrofluid” page

Laser Hand Effects
I have finally switched on my laser fibre optic implants that connect my fingertips to the 3 laser units in their silicone casing. Geek cred +++.

Prisms
A group of 9 prisms allows a circular light path and gives multiple internal reflections.

Ophthalmic Laser
Ex medical ophthalmic (eye) class IV laser Nd:YAG 3W 20ms 15J, Q switched 12ns 0.2J with HeNe 0.1 mW. It weighs 400 kg including a solid pallet.

Nitrogen Laser 2
My second (successful) attempt at a transverse excited atmospheric pressure (TEA) nitrogen laser and why it worked.

Old Helium Neon lasers
A working HeNe tube is shown below running at 2 kV with a 330 kohm resistor. It takes about 3 – 4 kV to trigger. It is shown firing through a 15,000 lines per inch diffraction grating and shows the first order spectra.

Argon Laser 40 mW Blue
Argon Laser 40 mW Blue Laser, multi-line. Unusual in that it has multiple spectral lines. Of course these days, simple handheld diode lasers can be much brighter than this. The power supply and control unit are on the left and the head unit with fan on top. The beam is highlighted by a water spray. I love electronics with a key start.

Green Diode Laser 16 mW
This green laser pointer from 2010 above is a class IIIa 532 nm diode laser rated at 5 mW and is legal in the USA.
